Artist and Producer Jason Truby has teamed up with film maker Nolan Dean to produce the first music video from Project Zero's album "Grafted" set for release on November 1, 2012. We are so thankful for Jason and Nolan and for the passionate way they use their talents to relay the message that every child deserves the unconditonal love and nurture of a forever family!
What an incredible day at our 5th Annual Disney Extravaganza! We had over 25 Disney themed booths hosted by area churches and businesses. We had over 100 volunteers and actually only had 8 buns left out of 600! We are so thankful for our wonderful sponsors: New Creation Dance Company (Arnold Family Foundation), By Invitation Only, and Geyer Springs First Baptist Church. We appreciate the gracious hospitality of Immanuel Baptist Church who has allowed us to host this event over the past 5 years. Now we wait to see how many families come together as a result of today's event!
On Tuesday, April 10, Project Zero corporate sponsor APWM hosted Project Zero night at Traveler's field. They invited several of our waiting kids to join their clients for a special night at the game. One of our young men had the honor of throwing the first pitch! APWM founders Gary and Megan Garrison challenged their clients to raise money for Project Zero and presented each of them with a piggy bank to symbolize APWM's efforts to support Project Zero. We are so grateful for the Garrison's and the enthusiastic way they have embraced our cause and the out-of-the-box ways they are helping us make a difference in the lives of waiting children! Melonie Rush, from Radio Disney (Little Rock) invited us to do an interview about Project Zero! We were thrilled to have the opportunity share our mission and to raise awareness about the need for adoptive families for children waiting in foster care. The only down side? It will air on an upcoming Saturday morning at 6:30 am!
Our fifth annual Disney Extravaganza will be held on Saturday, May 19 from 11-2 on the parking lot of Immanuel Baptist Church. This event is not open to the public, but is open to waiting children across the state and families who have completed the PRIDE training, have an open home and are waiting for an adoptive placement. Our Disney Extravaganza features over twenty Disney themed booths hosted by churches and businesses in Pulaski County. Some of these include: Cinderella's Cupcake Castle, Ariel's fishing fantasy, Sleeping Beauty's Sweet Shoppe, Lilo's Luau Limbo, Dumbo's Drinks, Peter Pan's popcorn, Pluto's flamin' hot dogs, Mr. Incredible's quarterback test, etc. It is an incredible time of fun for the kids and is an opportunity for forever families to be formed.
On Saturday, April 14, professional dancer Melanie Hymel will donate her time and talents to host modern dance class for some of our girls. Several weeks ago she taught a class for some of our older girls and it was a huge success! Melanie is an incredible instructor with an innate gift for bringing out the personalities and talents of her students. Many of the girls who will be attending this upcoming class have never had the opportunity to express themselves through dance. We are so grateful for Melanie's willingness to partner with us as we reach out to give our girls a new and exciting experience!
