We are firm believers that we are meant to be right where we are, even if the path to get here has been full of unexpected twists and turns. No matter what life has thrown at our friend Joshua, he has faced it with a determined grin on his face and a desire to find happiness and stability. His inclusion here on the Heart Gallery may seem like bad luck to some, but for Joshua, it’s right where he needs to be to find that new start that he deserves. Joshua is a very practical, logical young man, and he knows what adoption is all about and what it means. And despite a deep desire to stay connected with his birth mom in some way, he yearns for a family to call his own…one that will let him re-learn some important lessons and make a few mistakes as he regains some much needed stability and security in his life. Joshua’s past trauma has left a deep distrust of female authority figures and some overall anger and depression issues at times. Sometimes, that anger and frustration and fear come out in fights with his peers and bullying toward his foster sisters. But these emotions and reactions are just temporary symptoms of a larger need – a need to be in a home that Joshua knows is committed to him. We’ve seen it time and time again. Kids just like Joshua who have baggage and behaviors suddenly make life-changing turnarounds when they find “the” family for them. We know that Joshua’s family is reading this bio right now…we just need you to take that first step. Reach out. Ask a question or two.
