Melissa Stone has been a volunteer with Project Zero since 2006. She is the Director of the Division of Developmental Disabilities at the Department of Human Services, and has assumed that role since 2015. Melissa, who has her Juris Doctorate from the William H. Bowen School of Law, began her career at DHS in 2005 serving in various legal roles supervising attorneys. While growing her family, Melissa left DHS in 2009 and worked as an Attorney Ad Litem representing children in DCFS custody. Melissa and her husband Clay have two young boys, Mitchell and Griffin. They attend St. James United Methodist Church and are passionate about helping the vulnerable. This includes people with developmental disabilities and children waiting to find a forever, loving home.
