Marimar “Mari” is a highly independent teenager who feels most at peace when creating art, listening to music, and playing the guitar. She struggles with feeling connected to others and takes time to form bonds, but once she does, they are meaningful. Mari misses having a family to call her own and is looking forward to the day that she can regularly spend time with her older sister, who she loves dearly. Like most teenagers, she is working on building confidence in herself as she grows and learns who she is as a person. Originally from Puerto Rico, she speaks fluent Spanish and would feel most comfortable in an environment where she is encouraged to be herself. Understandably, Mari has hesitations about adoption and is nervous about what it would be like to go through the process. With patience, kindness, and time, any family would be fortunate to call her their own.
