This next statement is going to look a little shocking at first, but stick with us on this one. There is nothing about our buddy Dakota that is remarkable. Sounds a little harsh, doesn’t it? I mean, aren’t all our kids special and unique? Of course, they are, but what makes kids in foster care unique is usually seen as negative – they have anger or trust issues, or they’re guarded and unwilling to let you in. And those behaviors are significant enough to make people see them as different from other kids. But Dakota? Well, he’s just a regular kid. He loves basketball and video games, and his favorite food is pizza. I know you’re wondering – “What are his red flags? He’s got to have some.” Sorry to disappoint you, but this is what we mean when we say Dakota is just a normal kid. His “trouble” behaviors are simple and commonplace. He struggles with following rules sometimes, and he has trouble focusing…just like every other kid his age. All Dakota needs is a loving two-parent family to provide him with structure and support and consistency. He’ll fit right in like he’s always been a part of your family and just become a better version of good ol’ Dakota.
